Geographical Indications (GIs) examination exchange of views and best practice

From the 26 to the 28 of February 2018, a three day workshop took place in Chennai. CGPDTM and DG AGRI officials shared their IP expertise to constructively exchange views and best practice between registering offices in the field of GIs.

The action focused on the following GI discourse subjects:

• Overview of GI registration systems/presentation of the relevant legislation in India and EU
• Mapping similarities and differences between Indian and EU systems
• Dealing with GIs and other rights
• Protecting and enforcing GI rights
• Marketing aspects
