The Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks (CGPDTM) ) is a sub-ordinate to the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion. The CGPDTM is not only an important partner of the EUIPO in the implementation of the EU-India Intellectual Property Cooperation Project (IPC-EUI) but also one of its final beneficiaries. The Indian National Coordinators (INCs) as appointed by CGPDTM play an important role in steering the project and in the successful implementation of its objectives.
The Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) ) functioning under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry is the nodal agency responsible for formulation and implementation of promotional and developmental measures for growth of the industrial sector in India keeping in view the national priorities and socio-economic objectives. Among other things, DIPP is also responsible for overseeing initiatives relating to the promotion and protection of Intellectual Property Rights such as Patents, Designs, Trade Marks and Geographical Indications in India.
The Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Intellectual Property Management (RGNIIPM) The Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Intellectual Property Management established is a center of excellence established in Nagpur by Government of India to provide training, research, education in the field of Intellectual Property Rights. The institute not only caters to the need of training examiners of Patents, Designs, Trade Marks and Georgraphical Indications but is also engaged in imparting education, training and awareness of IPR professionals, managers, user communities, government functionaries and other stakeholders involved in creation, commercialization and management of IPR in India. Considering the wide ambit and scope of its actions, the institute becomes a natural choice as a partner for EUIPO to successfully implement the IPC-EUI project objectives.
The Cell for IPR Promotion and Management (CIPAM) is a professional body under the aegis of Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) which ensures focused action on issues related to IPRs and addresses the 7 identified objectives of the National IPR Policy. CIPAM assists in simplifying and streamlining of IP processes, apart from undertaking steps for furthering IPR awareness, commercialization and enforcement.
