The Madrid Protocol treaty entered into force, with respect, to India on July 8, 2013. The Madrid System for the International Registration of Marks (Madrid system) offers trade mark owners a cost effective, user friendly and streamlined means of protecting and managing their trade mark portfolio internationally.
In order to increase its application and share best practices , the DIPP and the European Union via the IPC-EUI project, implemented by the EUIPO, have developed a booklet targeting MSMEs including all the necessary information regarding branding, trade marks and The Madrid Protocol functionalities.
The main purpose of this communication instrument is to increase awareness on the Madrid Protocol and promote the effective use of the Madrid Route to enforce brand owners’ rights.
