In February 2017 two specialised training sessions targeting attorneys and advisors will take place in India. GI experts will hold the sessions including Indian officials from the CGPDTM.

This action will focus on enhancing the capacity of the Indian productive sector to compete in different markets at local, regional, national or international level. It is composed of two specialised training on GIs for IP professionals and attorneys, as well as industry associations.
The topics that will be covered refer to the EU and Indian GI systems, GIs and complementarity with other IP rights as well as the socio-economic potential offered by GIs in India.
The output will serve as a basis for the creation of a knowledgeable IP support community that will be in a position to provide expertise to the Indian business community. This action will also contribute to set up training modules and reference material for both a specialised and less specialised audience by providing easily accessible, free and tailor-made information. Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is in charge of coordinating the event in association with EUIPO.
